German soprano ARMINIA FRIEBE, praised by the press for her "warm and extremely colorful voice”, her "effortless high register” and her  “touching” and “intense” interpretations, is a new member of the  ensemble  of Pfalztheaters Kaiserslautern, where she as guest already embodied a highly celebrated  ELISABETH in Wagner‘s "Tannhäuser", which also brought her to the Aalto Theater Essen.

In the 2023/24, she will embody the parts of 1. DAME in Mozart's "Die Zauberflöte", ELISABETH de VALOIS in Verdi's "Don Carlo" in stage direction of Hendrik Müller (AYNpmn) and with Daniele Squeo conducting, and will sing in Glanerts "Drei Wasserspiele". 

 

Guest-committments included FIORDILIGI in Mozart’s “Cosi fan tutte” at Teatro MontepulcianoMARIA in Roman Statkowski’s same named opera at the Oldenburgisches Staatstheater,  LAURA in “Kosmos Korngold - Der Ring des Polykrates" at Theater Freiburg, AGATHE  in Weber’s "Der Freischütz" at the Festival Zwingenberg, the title-part of Kálmán’s CSÁRDÁSFÜRSTIN at Theater KoblenzHANNAH GLAWARI in Lehár's "Die Lustige Witwe" at the Festival de Wiltz / Luxembourg, and on a tour through Germany and Switzerland, she was ANNINA in J. Strauß'’ “Eine Nacht in Venedig” .

 

Her productions in Kaiserslautern see a.o. ELISABETTA in Verdi's "Don Carlo"  in stage-direction by Hendrik Müller,  Mozart‘s "Die Zauberflöte" and Glanert's  "Drei Wasserspiele".

 

Until the 2022/23 season, Mrs Friebe was member of Theater Trier, interpreting FELDMARSCHALLIN in R. Strauss' "Der Rosenkavalier", ELLEN ORFORD in Britten‘s "Peter Grimes",  ELISABETTA in Verdi‘s "Don Carlo", MADAMA EUTERPOVA in Menotti's "Help! Help! The Globolinks" and the title-role of Puccinis TOSCA.

 

Due to Covid, her  appearances as  AGATHE at Theater Freiburg and  the Theater Bern, as well as  TOSCA with Festival Zwingenberg unfortunately had tob e cancelled.


A vivid Concert-interpretor , Arminia Friebe sang a.o. Bruckner’s "Te Deum", Brahm’s "Ein Deutsches Requiem", Mendelssohn’s "Eliah", the "Requiem” by Verdi, Mozart, Dvorak and Fauré and Beethoven’s "IX. Symphonie" at the Concert-Halls in Palermo, Bonn, Essen, the Kölner Philharmonie, the Musikfestspiele Düsseldorf and the Liederhalle Stuttgart .

Wagner's "Wesendonck-Lieder" under Atonio Verenesi brought her to the Teatro San Carlo di Napoli, Gala-Conzerte under Maestro Antonio Pappano and Francesco Ivan Ciampa to the Orchestra Filhamronia di Benevento (life on RAI); and furthermore, she was the German Representant at the Festival Europe de Solistas Caracas, giving concerts with the Simon Bolivar Orchestra.

 

Arminia Friebe first studied musicology in a  Master’s Degree, as well as music and history for her Teacher‘s Degree, before taking up her singing studies at the Music Conservatory in Cologne.

In Productions of the conservatory, she appeard as MUTTER in Humperdinck’s “Hänsel & Gretel”, ROSALINDE in J. Strauß “Die Fledermaus” and ELISETTA in Cimarosa’s “Il Matrimonio Segreto” .

And already before her studies, she sang musical-parts, such as the title-role in Sylvester Levay's Musical ELISABETH, as CHRISTINE in Webber's "Phantom of the Opera" and as SARAH in Jim Steinmann’s "Dance of the Vampires". 

 

Mrs Friebe participated in many international competitions

She received the 2nd AWARD at the Concorso Franco Ghitti in Iseo, the Concorso Riccardo Zandonai and dem Concorso Internationale Venezia Musica, the  3rd AWARD at the Elisabeth Connell Competition3 SPECIAL-PRIZES at the Concorso Andrea Chenier in Foggia and alsoSPECIAL PRIZES at the Competizione Pasquale Pappano and the Concorso Bellano Paese Degli Artisti.

In addition, she was a FINALIST at the Richard-Wagner-Wettbewerb in Karlsruhe, the Bundeswettbewerb Gesang Berlin, the Zinka Milano Competition, the Concorso Internationale di selezione per Cantanti Lirico di Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and the Leyla Gencer Competition in Istanbul.

 

Mr. Friebe is a proud recipient of the Gottlob-Frick-Medaille.
